Job description

Summary

The Residential Driver is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. Additional responsibilities include ensuring vehicle compliance with Company safety standards, adherence to all regulations, and completion of vehicle condition reports daily.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspection to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports.
  • Safely operate truck along designated route to disposal sites, read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as assigned.
  • Operate manual or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, run compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
  • Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers, and others daily to ensure timely and professional service.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them per departmental procedures.
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste, clean area around accidental spills, adhering to safety standards and policies.
  • Continuously monitor vehicle condition to remain operationally ready and minimize downtime; clean waste from packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip.
  • Complete required route/productivity sheets, Vehicle Condition Reports, and other reports as required.
  • Maintain adherence to required productivity standards to ensure all customers are serviced timely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills, professionalism, courtesy, cooperation, honesty, and trustworthiness toward customers and co‑workers.
  • Show good time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
  • Follow work schedule, and follow through on challenges as they arise.
  • Adhere to Company policies and rules, promote safety standards, and avoid taking inappropriate risks.
  • Maintain work pride and strive to achieve goals.
  • Comply with all safety policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
  • Two years of prior experience driving heavy commercial trucks.
  • Excellent reading and writing skills.
