Job summary

idcAutomatic is seeking an Installation Technician to install garage doors and related equipment in residential settings while upholding customer expectations and company standards.

You will review tickets, load equipment, transport to sites, assemble components, and maintain documentation of work performed. A valid driver’s license, CDL Class A, and DOT certification are required or obtainable. Strong communication and safety awareness are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Six months installing or related experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • CDL Class A license required.
  • Ability to obtain DOT certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret tickets and logs.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic for measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Install garage doors and related equipment on residential sites.
  • Review job tickets and load correct equipment for transport.
  • Load/unload parts and transport to job sites daily.
  • Assemble doors, tracks, springs, openers on site.
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping; follow procedures.
  • Document work performed and time on site.

Description

Install garage doors and related equipment in residential settings while exceeding customer expectations and meeting Company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Install garage doors and related equipment using a variety of power tools, hand tools and ladders.
  • Review assigned job tickets and determine correct equipment and parts to be loaded for transport to job sites.
  • Load and unload garage door sections and parts in trucks and transport to assigned job sites daily.
  • Assemble doors, tracks, springs, openers, and related equipment at the job site.
  • Deliver a high level of service to internal and external customers.
  • Log job completion, including parts used and time on the job site and submit to Coordinator daily.
  • Clear jobs at the end of each day with the Supervisor.
  • Maintain vehicle, equipment, tools, and inventory in a clean, safe, and efficient manner to obtain optimum operation.
  • Adhere to and maintain compliance with established systems, policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all safety and housekeeping expectations and 5s standards.
  • Keep supervisor and Sales team informed of progress, issues and successes.
  • Identify, recommend and implement opportunities for continuous performance and process improvements.
  • Contribute to a spirit of cooperation and teamwork within and between departments.
  • Demonstrate and uphold Company values.
Requirements
Skill, Competency, and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Six (6) months of installation or related experience preferred.
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • CDL Class A license required.
  • Ability to obtain DOT certification required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • A high level of attention to detail, organization and follow-through skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement, problem solving and decision‑making in emotional, difficult, and stressful situations.
  • Ability to navigate to assigned job sites.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as open job tickets, service logs and procedure/technical manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Strong customer service (internal and external) focus.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk and hear; perform repetitive motion. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk, climb ladders; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently carry, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally 150 pounds with assistance. The employee will work around and with mechanical, moving and sharp objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be requested to work extended or variable hours depending on business need.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to stress and variable weather conditions including heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
