Job summary

Arc of Onondaga is actively seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) for residential settings in the Fairmount and Westvale areas. We offer full-time and part-time roles and welcome candidates with or without prior caregiving experience.

DSPs provide hands-on assistance, guidance, and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them live more independent lives while fostering dignity and choice. We support ongoing development within a family-friendly workplace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid New York State driver’s license preferred.
• Experience in caregiving or human services is helpful but not required.
• Compassionate, dependable and respectful approach.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and participate in social, recreational, and community activities.
• Provide compassionate care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a home setting.
• Promote advocacy, self-confidence, choice and independence.
• Support emotional, physical, and personal well-being of individuals served.
• Assist with daily tasks, routines and household activities.
• Teach life skills including money management, shopping, meals and home upkeep.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene as needed.
• Encourage community participation, personal growth and independence.
