Job summary

SERV Behavioral Health System, Inc. in New Jersey is seeking a Residential Counselor – Youth I/DD to provide therapeutic residential support to youths with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (with 1 year experience with I/DD in group setting)
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (unrelated field) with 6 months I/DD group experience
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work/psychology or related field
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to demonstrate respect for children/adolescents and their families

• Facilitates community integration through focused recreational activities

• Collects and records data, and completes all required documentation
• Provides transportation as needed and accompanies clients to and from appointments

The Residential Counselor – Youth I/DD provides therapeutic residential support to youths with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities. The successful candidate will assist with daily living activities and provide behavioral support in a group home setting.

SCHEDULE:

• Tuesday through Saturday 3 PM to 11 PM -OR- Friday through Tuesday3 PM to 11 PM

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Orients newly admitted clients
• Plans, leads and supervises client activities

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

• High School diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field unrelated to social work/psychology and six (6) months’ experience working with I/DD individuals in a group setting, OR
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology or related field
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to demonstrate respect for children/adolescents and their families

SALARY:

• $23.75to $25.08per hour based on experience and education.
