Job summary

Gándara Mental Health Center is seeking Residential Counselors for the DDS Program in the Greater Springfield area. The role emphasizes open communication, support, accountability, and promotion of the rights and safety of individuals with developmental needs.

Multiple work arrangements are available, including full-time, part-time, and relief staff. Responsibilities include attending meetings, documenting progress, supporting daily living activities, and promoting client dignity while

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in human service field preferred.
• At least one year of experience working with psychiatric clients preferred.
• Must have valid driver’s license and safe driving history.
• Prefer bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Must have availability of an automobile to transport individuals or perform other supportive services as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Attend scheduled clinical and staff meetings and participate in treatment planning.
• Maintain client records in standard format and timetables.
• Attend supervisory meetings with Program Manager.
• Maintain progress notes for each shift.
• Promote human and civil rights and ensure safety and dignity of individuals.
• Assist with daily living activities and provide individual and group training.
• Support individuals in exercising choice and meaningful decisions in their lives.
• Provide safe responses to emergencies and be available for crisis situations.
• Deliver case management, outreach and advocacy to members.
• Develop strong, supportive relationships with individuals.
• Observe safety measures and ensure personal safety of clients.
