Howard Center in Burlington, VT is seeking a Sub-Acute Residential Counselor Floater – Developmental Services: Crisis Stabilization for a full-time role helping adults with developmental disabilities or autism who may experience a mental health crisis. This position offers broad exposure to developmental needs and mental health care.

Qualifications

• Three to four years of experience in a human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired.
• Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.
• Ability to work either Saturday or Sunday.
• Experience with de escalation techniques.
• Committed to trauma-informed approach.
• Person centered

Responsibilities

• Initiate constructive activities that address goals on a client's Individual Support Agreement (treatment plan)
• Implement the support and crisis plans (utilizing Therapeutic Options training), in collaboration with the greater treatment team.
• Facilitate community inclusion, daily living, and skill acquisition
• Utilization of sound judgement and maintenance of clam demeanor during crisis
• Provide needed behavioral and/or mental health support
• Provide needed personal and/or medical care
