Job summary

COMHAR INC is seeking a Residential Counselor in Walnutport, PA, to supervise and support clients in a homelike housing program. Shifts include Saturday-Sunday overnights and weekday evenings, with a full-time option during the week and a per diem schedule.

Responsibilities include counseling activities, supervising residents’ routines, medication monitoring, and ensuring safety and compliance with regulations while fostering independence and self-determination for clients.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in human services or high school diploma/GED with 6–12 months of mental health experience.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and communicate client information across shifts and with supervisors.
• Deliver individual and group activities, counseling sessions, meetings, supervise residents' chores, and monitor medications.
• Ensure safety and security of the facility, including medication storage and client funds.
• Contribute to development and review of residential service plans and evaluations.
• Maintain accurate chart documentation (progress notes, service plans, logs, incident reports, medication checks).
• Ensure compliance with internal/external regulations (confidentiality, HIPAA, health and safety, etc.).
• Support program continuity through effective communication and team meetings.
• Participate in mandatory trainings (conf confidentiality, fire safety, infection control, etc.).

Open Shift Schedules-

1. Saturday and Sunday 12am-8am (Part-Time 16 hours- Friday/Saturday over-night every weekend)

2. Monday-Friday 4pm-12am (Full-Time 40 hours)

3. Per Diem, must be flexible

Pay Rate: $17.36/HR

COMHAR's Specialized Supported Housing (SSH) Program located in Walnutport, PA is a homelike environment providing clients with the opportunity for independence and self-determination within a structured living situation. Our SSH is now looking for Residential Counselor who will be responsible for the supervision and support of the clients while in residence at the site and in the community.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for communication on and between shifts of client information and supervisory directives
• Deliver quality and consistent individual and group activities, i.e., counseling sessions, hours meetings, supervising residents’ chores, monitoring medications, activities of daily living(shopping, meal preparation, cooking, personal hygiene, laundry), social and leisure skills.
• Ensures safety and security of the facility including COMHAR property, valuables, medication storage, client funds, tokens/transpasses, petty cash, client rents, and crisis management.
• Maintains involvement in the development and review of residential service plans, psychosocial evaluations and annual reviews.
• Maintains required or requested timely and accurate chart documentation such as progress notes, residential service plans, house logs, incident reports, medication checklist, chore/meal schedules, etc.
• Ensure compliance to all internal and external regulations, policies, and procedures, e.g., confidentiality, client rights, call-out procedures, health and safety, HIPAA, compliance, etc.
• Promote continuity of program activity through the maintenance of proper channels of communication through a team approach to comprehensive services, i.e., supervision and staff meeting attendance as requested.
• Participates in all mandatory training at hire and annually, e.g., confidentiality, fire safety, infection control, crisis prevention/intervention, suicide prevention, cultural awareness, disaster training, driver training, medication monitoring, safety and emergency procedures

Requirements

• Associates degree in human services or
• High school diploma/G.E.D. plus 6 months to 1 year related mental health experience.
• Valid PA driver’s license.
