Job summary

CJR in Litchfield, CT is seeking a Residential Clinician to provide individual and family therapy to Community Diversion residents, using Dialectical Behavior Therapy and coordinating with the treatment team. The position requires a Master’s degree and CT licensure (LCSW/LMFT/LPC) with provisional license acceptable; travel within community with company vehicle; schedule Monday–Friday 9am–5pm, 35 hours.

Salary ranges from $68,000 to $72,000 per year, based on licensure and qualifications;

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field and CT licensure as LCSW/LMFT/LPC; provisional license acceptable
  • Experience with at-risk or court-involved adolescents
  • Valid driver’s license; travel in community with company vehicle
  • Strong verbal communication, documentation, and professional writing skills
  • On-call rotation availability (about one week per month)

Job Description:

The Clinician will provide individual and family therapy to all Community Diversion residents using Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Their primary responsibility is to maintain or re-establish family connections and address family conflict as appropriate; assess client and family needs, develop treatment plans, make appropriate connections to aftercare services in conjunction with the Case Manager, monitor progress, communicate closely with all members of treatment team, and deliver appropriate interventions as indicated by treatment plan. Coordinate home passes for child and family as treatment progresses and child moves towards discharge. Inform all aftercare referrals based on clinical findings.

  • Work with the child’s treatment team to identify and prioritize needs and develop an individualized treatment plan as well as provide solution-focused interventions
  • Plan and facilitate the monthly treatment team meeting (every 30 day review) virtual and/or in person
  • Administer the Short-Term Assessment for Risk and Treatability: Adolescent Version (START: AV) to identify youth risk areas and protective factors that will guide treatment planning and goal setting
  • Administer additional screenings and assessments for treatment planning purposes: Youth Screening Instrument (MAYSI), Child and Adolescent Trauma Screen (CATS) and Inventory of Callous and Unemotional Traits (ICU)
  • Become trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and support learning skills, coaching, and mindfulness amongst milieu staff
  • Implement additional services and/or identify additional needs of the adolescent ahead of discharge planning
  • Conduct weekly individual and family sessions (in program and in youth’s community or at their home)
  • Complete Behavior Chain Analysis (BCAs), support the Egregious Behavior Protocol (EBP) and offer mental health consultation to program staff
  • Provide transportation as needed and appropriate (e.g., home family sessions, court hearings)
  • Input all clinical documentation into the ECR as well data into CDCS within timelines outlined by CSSD
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Required
    • Master’s degree in a relevant field and an active Connecticut license as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPC. A provisional license is required; full licensure is preferred
    • Experience working with at-risk or court-involved adolescents
    • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the organization’s insurance and safety requirements. Travel in the community to conduct family sessions with a company provided vehicle is required
    • Strong verbal communication, documentation, and professional writing skills
    • Availability to participate in an on-call rotation, typically one week per month
    • Ability to successfully complete the organization’s required background check, consistent with applicable laws and organizational policy
  • Preferred
    • Knowledge of strengths-based and trauma-informed programming
Schedule & Rate of Pay:
  • Regular schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break (35 working hours per week)
  • Flexibility: Occasional evening and/or weekend availability may be required for clinical sessions, to accommodate family schedules, or to respond to clinical emergencies
  • Salary: $68,000-$72,000 per year, depending on licensure, education, skills, and qualifications
    • Provisional license: $68,000-$70,000
    • Fully licensed LCSW, LMFT, or LPC: $70,000-$72,000
