Job summary

State of Louisiana in Alexandria is seeking a Residential Services Specialist 2-3 WAE to support residents at the Central Louisiana Supports and Services Center. The role focuses on improving clients' skill levels and coordinating on-campus job activities to promote independence.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include at least one year of training or experience in providing behavioral health or developmental disability services or psychiatric patient care.
• Alternatively, twelve semester hours in education, psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, child guidance or nursing.

Responsibilities

• Change diapers, clean toilets, and turn residents every two hours or as required.
• Assist with simple screening procedures.
• Facilitate residents with activities to achieve individual goals and independence.
• Instruct clients in active treatment programming to promote independence.
• Position and transfer residents using wheelchairs, walkers, tables, whirlpools, and other equipment while ensuring safety.
• Assist residents with housekeeping and meal preparation per meal plans.
• Bath and feed residents and assist with general care.
• Assist with shopping, transportation, transfers, and securing residents.
• Push wheelchairs for daily activities, parades, and facility events.
