Description

Position Summary:

The Residential Assistant I provides our guests with supportive assistance to maintain a safe, welcoming, and clean environment, and serves as the bridge to meeting the needs of the person as required. This position also works with staff to ensure a safe environment for all and aids as needed to ensure that the programs within Housing Services are met.

Qualifications Required:
  • Ability to understand and practice the mission of Camillus House.
  • Education: No degree required, but High School/GED recommended. Any combination of relevant education and work experience may be considered.
Qualifications Preferred:
  • Language: Proficiency in oral/written English; bilingual a plus (Spanish and/or Creole).
  • Skills: Computer literacy (Word, data programming) required.
  • Successful completion of a toxicology test and a criminal background check.
  • Successful completion of Level II screening for all licensed clinicians and others, if required by funding source.
  • Valid FL Driver License with a clean driving record, if required for the position.
  • Culturally sensitive to the social, psychological, and healthcare needs of the vulnerable populations served.

  • Welcome guests in a hospitable, professional manner to establish a positive connection.
  • Perform daily monitoring of all structures and units at the facility; read daily logs for follow-up on any previous shift concerns regarding safety and health.
  • Assist clients with daily activities and assist staff with conducting random urinalysis.
  • Ensure that the facility is clean at all times; assist in the removal and disposal of furniture, fixtures, and other debris.
  • Ensure the dispensation and storage of supplies; conduct room inspections and document any maintenance repairs needed.
  • Answer phones and take messages as necessary during evening shifts; inform the supervisor of any problems that occur during evening and early morning hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Completes all required training, certifications, and compliance requirements within established timeframes.
