NAICA is seeking a dedicated Residential Aide to ensure safety and well-being of staff and clients at our Bronx work site. This role enforces house rules and operational procedures to maintain a secure living environment.

The incumbent will train new aides, monitor facilities, and coordinate emergency responses while handling administrative tasks and client support. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year experience in a residential facility preferred.
  • NYS Security License preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required before probation expiration.
  • Food Protection Certification required before probation expiration.
  • F-02 or F-80 Certificates of Fitness may be required.
  • Ability to read, speak, write English for administrative purposes.

Role Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Aide to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of both staff and clients at our work site. The Residential Aide will play a crucial role in maintaining a secure environment by enforcing house rules and operational procedures.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties
  • Train and mentor new Residential Aides, sharing expertise and best practices in security protocols, resident interactions, and administrative tasks.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements within the security department, proposing and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a point of contact during emergency situations, such as fire drills or facility evacuations, and coordinate security-related responses.
  • Diligently monitor clients, units, dorms, and facility to ensure the safety and security of each resident.
  • Enforce shelter policies and follow staff policies and procedures.
  • Perform essential administrative tasks, including maintaining detailed communication logs, documenting resident activities, behaviors, and engagement.
  • Provide assistance to clients, addressing questions, and promptly resolving any arising issues.
  • Thoroughly inspect all items entering the facility to guarantee the safety of clients and staff.
  • Monitor video footage of common areas such as hallways, staircases, and lounges.
  • Strictly adhere to safety, health, and fire hazard guidelines, organizational policies, and procedures, as well as the mission and values of the organization.
  • Conduct regular hourly rounds of the facility.
  • Report any immediate safety hazards promptly to appropriate supervisory or maintenance personnel.
  • Collaborate with security personnel to ensure the safety of both staff and residents in the program.
  • Prepare units for vacancies, including emptying, cleaning, and properly tagging client belongings when necessary.
  • Document all incident details, participants, actions taken, and outcomes accurately.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of working evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, and bend over.
  • Ability to lift, reach, and handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to travel to different locations within New York City, as needed.
Work Environment / Schedule Requirements
  • Staff must continue working past their shift unless relieved by another staff member or authorized to leave by a supervisor.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma / General Educational Development Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience, preferably in a residential facility.
  • NYS Security License preferred.
  • F-02 Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Shelters (required before expiration of probation), or
  • F-80 Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters.
  • Food Protection Certification (required before expiration of probation).
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (required before expiration of probation).
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries when working with residents.
  • Prior experience in a residential facility is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and standards.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Demonstrated good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Proficiency in assessing emergency situations and responding effectively.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
  • Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
