The Arc of Madison County is seeking a Part-Time Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in daily living, self-care, and community activities in Huntsville, AL. You will monitor progress, document care, assist with meals and hygiene, and accompany residents to programs and events.
Strong communication, reliability, and a compassionate approach are essential to help residents become active and valued members of their communities.
Shifts: Saturday -Sunday 8:00 am to 2:00 pm or 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm (Part-Time)
Instructs basic self-care and independent living skills to individuals with intellectual disabilities by performing the following duties. Provides assigned individuals with disabilities with individualized support that allows them to become active, involved and valued members of their respective communities.

High school diploma or GED
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
