Job summary

CHR is seeking a Residential Aide for Heartwood Home in Willimantic, CT. This part-time, on-site role offers a 16-hour work week with Friday and Saturday shifts from 7am to 3:30pm.

Heartwood Home provides a structured recovery residence with 24-hour staffing and a focus on skills development and reintegration. The position requires a high school diploma, human services experience, and a valid driver’s license with CPR & First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Experience in Human Services with responsible work history.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid driver’s license; CPR & First Aid Certification or able to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintains physical environment and program standards per CHR, DMHAS, JCAHO and licensing standards.
• Monitors medications of all residents per policy.
• Uses effective communication to transfer information to staff about daily events.
• Teaches residents in rehab areas (nutrition, healthy living, meal prep, hygiene, budgeting, home care).
• Assists administrative tasks as directed by supervisor.
• Prepares and facilitates educational and skill-building groups and one-on-one interventions.
• Coordinates care with providers and families as needed.
• Assists residents with medical and psychiatric needs.
• Maintains documentation per standards.
• Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and other meetings.
• Other duties as required.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Heartwood Home

Heartwood Home is a 12 bed 3.1 level residential program for men aged 18 and older located in Willimantic CT. Heartwood Home provides a structured recovery residence environment, staffed 24 hours a day, which provides sufficient stability to prevent or minimize relapse or continued use. Individuals have an opportunity to develop and practice their interpersonal and group living skills, strengthen their recovery skills, reintegrate into the community and family, and begin or resume employment or academic pursuits. Clients with co-occurring disorders and on Methadone maintenance are accepted. The length of stay is typically between 30-90 days. The range in duration is individualized and based on medical necessity and clinical progress.

ABOUT THE POSITION: Residential Aide

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintains physical environment and program standards to CHR, DMHAS, JCAHO and any other licensing standard
• Monitors medications of all residents in accordance with the Adult residential medication policy and procedure.
• Effectively utilizes appropriate communication methods/tools to transfer information to other staff regarding the day’s events
• Teaches and assists all residents in areas of rehab including: nutrition and healthy living, meal preparation, hygiene, laundry, banking and budgeting, and basic home care skills.
• Assists/Manages administrative functions and tasks at the direction of the supervisor
• Prepares and facilitates educational and skill building groups and one to one interventions as directed by the treatment plan.
• Collaborates and coordinate care with providers and families as needed.
• Assists residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs.
• Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
• Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
• Additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Experience in Human Services with responsible work history.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid driver’s license required with good driving record. CPR & First Aid Certification required OR must obtain within 90 days of employment.

COMPENSATION*

$19.28/hour minimum- $ 27.98/hour maximum*

*Actual rates within this range are determined at the time of offer and are based on relevant experience, as well as adherence to our internal equity policy. (Please note, for part-time positions this range would be pro-rated based on hours worked)
