Job summary

Union Community Care in Lancaster, PA is seeking a Residential Aide to support clients in our Adult Rehabilitation Program. This essential role requires working on-site during all shifts and contributing to a safe, structured environment.

You'll deliver daily activities, monitor client safety, document in the EMR, and collaborate with counselors to support recovery. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred; a GED and valid PA driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Transport clients to health service providers and activities in a company vehicle.
• Observe and document changes in clients’ behavior and report to supervisors.

Qualifications: JOB SUMMARY

The Residential Aide position is classified as an essential role and requires employees to report to work on-site during scheduled shifts, including holidays. As these facilities operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Residential Aides are also expected to fulfill their duties during public health crises, pandemics, and severe weather conditions, unless otherwise directed by management.

The Residential Aide plays a vital role in coordinating and supporting the daily activities of clients within our Adult all-male Residential Rehabilitation Program, which provides 3.5 and 3.1 levels of care. Our Drug and Alcohol treatment facilities utilize evidence-based counseling and behavioral therapies to address substance use disorders. We strive to provide a safe, supportive, and homelike environment for individuals requiring ongoing clinical care and/or a sober living setting. As a Residential Aide, your interactions with clients help shape their overall experience and contribute significantly to their recovery journey.

Under the supervision of the Director of Drug & Alcohol Programs, Residential Aides deliver activities and support services that enhance and complement the therapeutic treatment process. Responsibilities include facilitating structured client activities, providing encouragement, motivation, and emotional support, and fostering a positive recovery-focused environment. The Residential Aide is also responsible for maintaining compliance with all facility policies and procedures, Managed Care Organization (MCO) requirements, and regulations established by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP).

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

• Inspecting clients’ rooms for cleanliness; hazardous materials such as, candles and incense; safety hazards; alcohol; drugs or weapons.
• Modeling responsible conduct for our clients through personal punctuality, language, appearance and general demeanor.
• Responsible for daily security of the facility and frequent, (at least once per hour), monitoring of rooms and hallways on all floors.
• Deliver medications to clients for self-administration and accurately document medication activity in the EMR system.
• Ensure client safety and evacuation during fire drills and emergencies, with all required documentation completed.
• Assist clients with on-site laundry services on designated laundry days.
• Performs nightly security, bed checks, (at least once per hour), on all floors.
• Transporting clients, in a company vehicle, to other health service providers, groups, outside activities, outside meetings, outside appointments and other treatment activities.
• Observing and documenting clients’ behavior for changes in physical, emotional and cognitive behavior and reports such changes to the Director and Counselors.
• Employing appropriate de-escalation techniques for Unusual Incidents and notifying Project Director; Enlisting Crisis Intervention, Medical Intervention or Police intervention as the situation may warrant.
• Preparing and rendering Unusual Incident reports to the Project Director and Director of Quality & Compliance no later than 24 hours subsequent to the incident.
• Motivating and organizing clients to conduct daily life skills activities.
• Overseeing meal service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner through coordination with the meal service provider to ensure that meals are served within a proper environment and that sanitation concerns are addressed.
• Ensuring that the pantry is kept stocked and that appropriate rotation of durable goods is done on a daily basis.
• Overseeing closing discussions and documenting in accordance with licensing requirements.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One to two years related experience and/or training in drug & alcohol treatment preferred
• Must possess a current valid driver’s license with a clean driver history in the state of Pennsylvania (No accidents or suspensions in past 3 years).
• Basic computer skills, Microsoft word and Excel
