Central Nursing Home in Chicago, IL is seeking a responsible Smoking Monitor to supervise residents during designated smoking times and ensure adherence to facility policies. The role emphasizes safety, observation, and proactive communication with nursing staff to protect residents from hazards.

The ideal candidate will be observant, patient, and dependable, with a commitment to maintaining a clean, secure smoking area and proper handling of smoking materials.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, long-term care, or resident support setting preferred.
• Knowledge of basic fire safety and emergency response procedures preferred.
• Responsible, observant, and dependable with strong attention to safety.
• Ability to supervise multiple residents while maintaining a safe environment.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise residents during designated smoking times and in approved smoking areas.
• Ensure residents follow established facility smoking policies, schedules, and safety procedures.
• Monitor residents closely to help prevent burns, fires, and other smoking-related hazards.
• Assist residents with safely accessing and leaving designated smoking areas, as appropriate and within training.
• Ensure cigarettes, lighters, matches, and other smoking materials are handled and stored according to facility policies.
• Monitor residents for unsafe behaviors or situations and respond appropriately in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe smoking area.
• Ensure cigarettes and other smoking materials are properly extinguished and disposed of.
• Observe residents for signs of distress, changes in condition, or other safety concerns and promptly notify nursing staff.
• Communicate with nursing staff and other team members regarding resident needs, incidents, and safety concerns.
• Maintain accurate documentation of smoking supervision, incidents, and resident participation as required.
• Follow facility fire prevention, emergency response, infection-control, and resident safety procedures.
• Maintain resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Report equipment concerns, unsafe conditions, or policy violations to the appropriate supervisor.
• Perform additional resident support duties as assigned.
