Our client is seeking a Resident Engineer, Tunnel Engineering SME for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This pivotal role focuses on managing technical and field activities, TBM oversight, and precast lining through complex tunneling operations in a major cross-country corridor.

The candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, ensure safety, quality, and schedule alignment, and coordinate with stakeholders to deliver a landmark capital project with significant regional impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Proven TBM experience and tunneling background.
• Experience with pressurized face TBM mining, precast lining, and cross passages.
• Strong project management and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory practices for tunneling.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise technical, office and field engineering tasks and reviews.
• Represent Construction Management during daily meetings with the Contractor.
• Oversee TBM design, fabrication, and operation reviews.
• Oversee precast tunnel lining segments design, fabrication, delivery and installation.
• Monitor tunneling progress, ground conditions and excavation parameters.
• Ensure safety protocols and quality controls are implemented and followed.
• Prepare progress reports and TBM operation documentation.
• Troubleshoot tunneling issues and provide practical solutions.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and accomplished Resident Engineer, Tunnel Engineering SME for the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP). This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute to this landmark project that is poised to deliver transformative impacts across economic, transportation and environmental sustainability.

The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. This is a milestone project that is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.

As the Resident Engineer, Tunnel Engineering SME, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of this significant project. Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the development, execution, supervision, and coordination of all technical aspects, office and field engineering assignments including review of plans, schedules, contracts, procedures, and construction methods.
• Represent the Construction Management team during Daily Construction Meetings with the Contractor.
• Support Senior CM Staff with technical input.
• Manage oversight review of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) design, fabrication, and operation during tunneling.
• Manage oversight review of detail design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of precast concrete tunnel lining segments.
• Coordinate with the project team to ensure timely completion of tunneling works according to project specifications.
• Monitor tunneling progress, ground conditions, and excavation parameters.
• Review geotechnical and structural monitoring data.
• Implement safety protocols and quality control measures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Prepare progress reports, documentation, and reports on TBM operations.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to challenges encountered during tunneling operations.
• Coordinate with the Outreach Team and Third Party Stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Proven experience working with Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs).
• Tunneling experience, specifically in pressurized face TBM mining, precast concrete segmental lining, and cross passage construction.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Understanding of safety standards, regulations, and best practices in tunneling operations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
