Job summary

GFT is seeking a Resident Engineer in New Jersey to lead complex transportation construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and on-time delivery. You will manage project teams, coordinate with clients, and oversee inspections, payments, and documentation.

The role requires a PE license in NJ, 10–15 years of experience in construction inspection and management, and familiarity with NJDOT projects as RE. Travel to sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Construction Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer license in New Jersey preferred.
  • Nicet IV or equivalent certification is a plus.

  • Provide overall leadership and management for construction projects.
  • Maintain comprehensive construction project records.
  • Oversee interactions with clients and inspection staff on contract change orders, item payments, and material testing.
  • Conduct project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Education | Experience:
What you will bring to our firm:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in New Jersey or
    • Nicet IV or Equivalent numbers of years
  • Certifications such as TCC, NJSAT, and ACIarepreferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in construction inspection procedures and management.
  • Prior experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer or Resident Engineer.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to project sites.
  • Experience with NJDOT projects as RE
  • NJDOT SiteManager Experienceand/or NJTA inspection procedures, specifications, and documentation requirements.
What we prefer you bring:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering
  • Experience with airport projects
  • Roadway projects experience
  • Certifications such as Rutgers TCC, NJSAT, ACI (preferred).
Compensation:

The salary range for this role is$155,000 - $220,000 per year. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
