Job summary

Urban Engineers of New York, D.P.C. is seeking a Resident Engineer to support projects at Republic Airport and beyond. This role focuses on construction management for roadways, roadway structures, and parking structures.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a NYS PE license (or reciprocity), and 10+ years in similar roles. OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred; NICT IV and ACI certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise an assigned field office of inspectors and office engineers.
• Review construction schedules, baselines, and updates with the client.
• Schedule inspections and field testing observations; coordinate commissioning.
• Assist in change orders and weekly/monthly project reporting.
• Review contractor payment vouchers and documents.
• Maintain payroll and labor documentation from contractors.
• Chair progress meetings and issue minutes.
• Ensure site safety and permit compliance; coordinate with adjacent projects.
• Monitor contractor safety and quality plans compliance.
• Work with contractor to minimize public disruptions.
• Coordinate with designers on submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
• Prepare punch lists with the owner after project completion.
• Collaborate to resolve schedule and budget challenges as a project team member.

Job Location: Nassau County, NY

Salary Range: $70 – $90 per hour

Urban Engineers of New York, D.P.C. is seeking a Resident Engineer to support current and upcoming projects at Republic Airport and beyond. This role focuses on construction management for roadways, roadway structures, and parking structures.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise an assigned field office consisting of inspectors, cost and schedule professionals, and office engineers.
• Conduct reviews and verifications of construction schedules, baselines, and updates in coordination with the client.
• Schedule inspections, field testing observations, and commissioning.
• Assist in preparation and negotiation of construction change orders and in preparation of weekly/monthly project reports.
• Review payment vouchers from contractors.
• Maintain manning reports, payroll certifications, and other labor documentation from contractors.
• Chair project progress meetings and distribute meeting minutes.
• Ensure site safety, permit compliance, and coordination with adjacent projects.
• Monitor contractor compliance with the Contractor’s Safety and Health Plan and the approved Contractor’s Quality Plan.
• Work with the contractor to minimize public disruptions.
• Log and coordinate with designers to respond to contractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
• Prepare punch lists with the owner upon project completion.
• Solve complex challenges related to project schedule and budget as an effective team member of the project team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• New York State Professional Engineering license, or the ability to become certified through reciprocity.
• Over 10 years of experience as a construction project engineer, office engineer, or resident engineer.
• OSHA 30‑hour safety course certification preferred or the ability to acquire certification immediately.
• NICT IV and ACI Certifications preferred.
• Experience managing construction of roadways, roadway structures, and parking structures in an active environment.
