Job summary

Ardurra is seeking a Resident Engineer to lead field inspection and project management for transportation projects in Cherry Hill, NJ. You will supervise a team, manage submittals and payments, and coordinate with clients and contractors to maintain schedule and quality.

The ideal candidate has PE licensure, ABET engineering training, and 5–8 years of relevant experience, with strong communication and CPM scheduling skills for NJDOT, NJTA, DRPA, and DRJTBC programs.

Job description

RVE an Ardurra company is seeking a Resident Engineer to work out of our Cherry Hill, NJ Office

This professional will be responsible for the project record keeping, correspondence, compiling, reviewing, and delivery of required daily inspection reports. The ideal candidate will chair various project meetings, record and prepare and distribute accurate meeting minutes. This individual will need to be well experienced in bridges, highways and have an extensive background in construction especially with clients such as NJDOT, the NJTA, DRPA, and DRJTBC.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
  • Act in the capacity of Resident Engineer, providing extensive inspection and management of construction project and serve as the Client’s liaison with the Contractor. The RE shall be capable of managing a 3+ CM/CI staff, possess strong communication, computer, and writing skills and be experienced with CPM Scheduling
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and local improvement projects.
  • Conduct construction supervision and field inspection of the work in progress to determine if the work is proceeding in accordance with the Contract Documents, both alone and/or as part of a team.
  • Work with client to inform public about upcoming work and potential impacts. Work with the contractor to minimize disruptions to the public.
  • Provide and maintain all records related to the project in question including daily quantities.
  • Manage all project submittals and requests for information, ensuring the proper Engineer performs the necessary review and/or guidance.
  • Keep a logbook of all observations and daily activities for ongoing work and provide the client with daily reports to include all labor trades, equipment supplied by Contractor, and measured pay quantities.
  • Review applications for payment with Contractor and make recommendations for progress payments to the Client.
  • Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform final project review for project closeout.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by project and business needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
  • Ability to draft reports including illustrations, appendices, maps and other attachments to summarize research results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Stormwater Modeling Software, Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be familiar with NJDOT specifications and documentation practices.
  • Possess a combination of NJDOT, NJTA, DPRA, and DRJTBC experience
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent
  • • Professional Engineering (PE) license required
  • • 5-8 years’ related work experience
Working Environment/Physical Requirements

This role may involve work in the office, in the field, or both, depending on role and/or project needs. Field assignments may include exposure to outdoor conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow, as well as occasional swing shifts, night work, and proximity to active traffic, requiring strict safety awareness and compliance. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn regularly in accordance with OSHA and other safety regulations. Field work requires frequent walking, standing, crouching, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing on uneven or slippery surfaces, as well as the ability to climb ladders, enter trenches or confined spaces, and lift or carry materials typically ranging from 10 to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must provide own transportation to travel to job site(s). Office work may involve prolonged sitting, typing, reading, and writing. Good vision and hearing are essential for both environments

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. The expected salary range for this position is $92,000 to $140,000 annually.
