Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in East Greenbush, NY is seeking a dependable Cook to join our Food Services team. The role involves preparing nutritious meals, ensuring dietary guidelines are followed, and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen for our residents.

The position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities with a friendly, resident-focused environment. Prior healthcare food service experience is preferred, and teamwork is essential to meet resident needs daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous cooking or food service experience required.
• Healthcare, skilled nursing, or long-term care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, menus, and dietary requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, portion sizes, and dietary requirements.
• Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely and appealing manner.
• Follow resident-specific diets, food consistencies, and dietary guidelines.
• Maintain proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and safety practices.
• Assist with monitoring food and kitchen supplies and notify management when items need to be replenished.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including assisting with cleaning and dishwashing as needed.
• Work closely with the Food Services Director and dietary team to ensure resident needs are met.
• Provide friendly and respectful service to residents.
• Assist with food service for special events and resident activities as needed.
