Job summary

Pioneer Ridge Health in Lawrence, KS is seeking a Charge Nurse to direct, administer and record resident care. The Charge Nurse reports to the Director of Nursing and leads nursing staff to ensure thorough, timely care according to care plans.

Responsibilities include communicating with families, assisting physicians, monitoring progress, coordinating care, and ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. This is a supervisory nursing leadership role with variable hours.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Kansas nursing license that is in good standing with the State.
• Must have basic computer skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Direct, administer and record the care given to residents; supervise nursing staff on the unit.
• Communicate with family members regarding resident progress.
• Assist visiting physicians in rounds as needed.
• Record and monitor residents' progress and communicate with physicians per facility policies.
• Coordinate care of residents according to care plans; ensure timely medication administration.
• Replace nursing staff who call in sick and assist when staffing is tight.
• Monitor compliance with state and federal requirements including infection control and fire safety.
