Job summary

The Avalon of Bloomfield Township in Bloomfield Hills, MI is seeking a Resident Care Associate (CNA/PCA) to provide compassionate personal care and support to residents. Training will be provided for those with a true heart for seniors, with responsibilities covering bathing, dressing, grooming, meals, and daily activities, while maintaining a calm, respectful environment.

Ideal candidates have GED or high school diploma and at least one year of CNA/PCA/HHA/RA or assisted living/memory care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year experience CNA/PCA/HHA/RA preferred.
• One year experience in assisted living/memory care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and other needs.
• Make beds, turn down, and change linens as scheduled or PRN.
• Complete resident laundry and assist with meals, cutting food and encouraging intake.
• Promote a calm, courteous atmosphere and document shift assignments.
• Report unusual resident behavior to the nurse and health services director.
• Provide planned activities and respond to call lights and emergencies promptly.
• Provide emergency care within scope of practice.

The Avalon is recruiting for Resident Care Associates – you may call this role a Nursing Assistant or a C.N.A. We require a very high level of customer service so candidates who have a passion for seniors are needed.

While experience is appreciated, we are willing to train those who have a true heart for working with seniors. Resident Care Associates perform various resident care activities and related nonprofessional services essential to caring for personal needs and comfort of residents.

Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Resident Care Associate:

• Assist all residents/clients with a high quality of personal care, including but not limited to; bathing, dressing, grooming, shaving, incontinent care, foot care, vital signs, height and weight checks per policy.
• Make all beds as needed in A.M., turn down as needed in P.M. and change bed linens once each week or PRN.
• Complete resident’s personal laundry as assigned.
• Assist residents with meal time. Cut food. Encourage to eat.
• Promote a calm atmosphere.
• Complete and document shift assignments as assigned, if unable to complete, report to nursing supervisor.
• Report to nurse on duty and Director of Health Services all unusual behavior of resident (changing of status).
• Provide activities as planned and/or directed.
• Respond to call lights and emergencies in a timely manner.
• Provide emergency care within scope of practice.

Qualifications

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• One (1) year experience working as a CNA/PCA/HHA/RA preferred
• One (1) year experience working in assisted living/memory care preferred
