Job summary

Springfield Place Assisted Living in Newberry, SC is seeking a Resident Care Assistant to support residents with daily living activities and promote independence under supervision.

The role includes helping with personal care, meal trays, documentation, and providing medication assistance as ordered, while contributing to a safe, respectful living environment for all residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred.
• Valid driver's license may be required by facility policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bed making, residents' personal hygiene, and laundering/pressing of clothing.
• Help dietary staff with taking trays to tables and removing trays after meals.
• Monitor residents' nutritional requirements and assist with activities and safety.
• Administer medications as ordered by attending physicians and maintain documentation.

Summary: Under supervision, assist residents with activities of daily living as well as promotes self-care and independence of the residents.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Licenses/Certification:

• Valid South Carolina Driver ' s License

Experience:

• Six months experience in a long-term care environment preferred .

Job Functions:

• Must help with bed making , residents' personal hygiene , and will be responsible for laundering/pressing of residents ' clothing.
• Will assist dietary wi th taking trays to the table, removing r esi dents' trays when they are finished eating, and monitoring residents ' nutritional requirements .
• Assist with scheduled activities and security for the residents .
• Will be responsible for medication management and administration of medications to the residents as ordered by the attending physicians .
• Ability to maintain proper documentation in the residents ' files / charts.
• Attends in-service education classes as scheduled.
• Will be responsible for the environmental cleaning of the facility.
• Assist with transporting residents for medical appointments and activities .
• Ability to assess residents' mental and physical status daily .
• Knowledge of, and performance of daily responsibilities, according to DHEC regulations 61-84 \" Standards for Licensing Community Residential Care Facilities\" and the policies and procedures of Springfield Place .
• Has knowledge of all Disaster Plans for Springfield Place and displays ability to be responsible for following appropriate actions .
• Will be expected to work according to the facility's posted work schedule and be willing to assist when additional needs are identified .
• Displays a posit i ve attitude , willingness to assist all individuals , as well as respects the facility , residents, visitors, and other staff members .

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Abilityto read, write, understand, and comply with instructions.
• Good physical and mental health as evident by physical exam and medical history .
• Clean and neat in appearance .
• A bility to be patient, kind, tactful , and understanding of the elderly population.
