Job summary

State of Michigan, through Michigan Veteran Homes, invites applications for a Resident Care Aide role at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans. This position offers sponsored enrollment into the Nurse Aide Training Course for selected employees, with pay at the full hourly rate during training.

The role provides direct nursing care and assistance with daily living activities in a 24-hour long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
• Experience levels correspond to Resident Care Aide grades 6–8 with increasing requirements.
• Must obtain CENA Certification 4 months post completion of the nurse aide training course and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care services to members, including assistance with activities of daily living such as hygiene, mobility, dressing, and eating.
• Maintain a safe living environment for members, staff, and visitors.
• Support training pathways and comply with testing requirements for random drug and alcohol testing.

This position is a test-designated position and subject to random drug and alcohol testing. DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans is a 24-hour long-term care facility. Shift availability may vary.

Experience

Resident Care Aide 6

No specific type or amount is required.

Resident Care Aide 7

One year of experience equivalent to a Resident Care Aide and successful completion of the Department's Resident Care Aide training program.

Resident Care Aide E8

Two years of experience equivalent to a Resident Care Aide, including one year equivalent to a Resident Care Aide 7.

Must obtain CENA Certification 4 months post completion of the nurse aide training course and maintain certification as a condition of continuing employment.
