Job summary

Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center is a memory care assisted living community seeking Resident Assistants for evening shifts. The role involves compassionate caregiving under LPN/RN supervision in a small, home-like setting with a focus on resident dignity and well-being.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in senior care or assisted living preferred, but not required

• Working knowledge of computers including electronic health records and required applications
• Maintain composure in a high-stress environment
• Promote well-being of residents

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility.
• Assist residents with medications as needed under supervision.
• Encourage independence and dignity of residents.
• Monitor safety and report health status changes to LPN/RN.
• Build meaningful relationships with residents and understand their routines.
• Help with light housekeeping and meal service as needed.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with staff.

Position Summary

The Resident Assistant, or RA, is a caregiver providing assistance to residents under the supervision of the LPN and/or RN. Resident Assistants provide compassionate care that is respectful of each resident's needs, values and wishes.

Job Specific Competencies

Core Competencies

• Supports the Trinity/SPHP Vision, Mission, Values in all encounters with residents and families

• Demonstrates accountability as an individual and team member in meeting basic resident and family needs

Clinical Competencies

• Resident Assistants provide the following nursing services under the supervision and direction of an LPN or RN across the continuum of care at SPHP.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and mobility in a respectful, compassionate manner.
• Assist residents in taking medications as needed.
• Encourage and support resident independence and dignity.
• Monitor resident safety and well- being, reporting any change to the LPN. Consult with the LPN/RN on any changes of health statuses of residents.
• Build meaningful relationships with residents, understanding their personal histories, preferences and routines and anticipate needs of residents.
• Help with light housekeeping and meal service as needed to maintain a safe and clean living space.
• Participate in team meetings and communicate/collaborate with coworkers and supervisors.
• Promote a warm, friendly, and respectful environment.

Education Requirements

• Must possess patience, empathy and a genuine desire to help others
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in senior care, health care or assisted living preferred, but not required
• Must be able to:
• Ability to follow care plan and safety protocols
• Working knowledge of computers including electronic health record, checking email, and preforming required in-servicing, along with use of other required applications
• Have the physical, visual and auditory ability adequate to perform resident care
• Maintain composure and positivity in a high stress environment
• Promote physical, cognitive, and psychosocial well-being of each resident
• Work with residents in a highly personal manner during stages of acute and chronic illness

Pay Range

Pay Range: :$16.70 - $20.36 per hour

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
