Job summary

Harmony Senior Services is seeking a Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide to provide quality daily living support to residents in a senior living community in Memphis, TN. The role includes assisting with activities of daily living, meals, medication reminders, and participation in activities.

The position requires a HS diploma or GED, completion of an approved PCA program, and CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days.

Qualifications

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have completed an approved personal care aide program per state regulations.
  • Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Must be organized and able to work with all levels of staff.
  • Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow supervisor instructions.
  • Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs, push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Must safely lift and transfer residents with proper body mechanics.
  • Must wear designated uniform during work hours with name badge.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Must represent the community positively and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care and assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Report incidents and care concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to resident calls for assistance or emergencies.
  • Assist in planning and conducting resident activity programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Assist residents with meals and transportation to dining and activities.
  • Monitor resident health and report concerns to the team.
  • Communicate resident status and appointments in writing and verbally.
  • Support new residents during move-in transitions.

Job Description

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community.

Reports incidents involving residents to include care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals (ex: HCD, RN/LPN, or ED)

Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position

Assists residents with activities of daily living

Perform housekeeping duties, such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc. as directed by supervisor

Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts

Must be able to remain calm and competent during emergencies

Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents

Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information

Assists residents to and from the dining room, and to and from activities

Checks on residents, ensures attendance at meals and activities

Checks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals

Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers

Assists new residents with move-in transition: provide emotional support

Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
