Job summary

Avera St Benedict is seeking a dedicated Resident Assistant to support residents with personal care as outlined in each care plan, and to perform scheduled activities within a compassionate multidisciplinary team.

The role involves assisting with meals, medications, housekeeping, and providing a sanitary environment, ensuring safety and comfort. The shift is 6:00am-2:30pm, with emphasis on CARE values and teamwork.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living, including meals, medications, housekeeping and laundry.
  • Respect residents' valuables and personal property.
  • Report changes observed in residents' condition or behavior.
  • Answer call lights and complete frequent rounds.
  • Prepare residents' rooms for admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Keep work areas clean and stocked.
  • Replenish supplies in each area as needed.

Pay Range: The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience. $18.75 - $24.50

Brief Overview

The Resident Assistant is accountable for assisting with personal care to residents in accordance with their care plan.

Performs scheduled activity.

Performs housekeeping duties to maintain a sanitary, orderly and attractive environment.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assists the resident with all facets of daily living including meals, medications, housekeeping and laundry.
  • Respects residents’ valuables and personal property, including but not limited to clothing, dentures, glasses/contact lenses, hearing aids, and prosthetic devices.
  • Reports any changes observed in residents’ condition or behavior.
  • Answers call lights, anticipates resident needs, and completes frequent rounding.
  • Prepares residents’ rooms and their belongings for admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Follows proper procedures for linen changes, soiled laundry, cleaning of furniture, equipment, and utensils.
  • Follows proper procedure for reporting equipment that is in need of repair.
  • Assists residents to activities, assist with or direct activities.
  • Keeps work environment clean and tidy, including resident rooms, kitchen, utility rooms, staff lounge, refrigerators and storage areas.
  • Replenishes supplies in each area as needed; gloves, soap, paper towels and kitchen supplies.
  • Prepares dining room for meals.
  • Is familiar with the diet extensions when preparing special diets.
  • Courteously serves meals with attention to eye appeal, sanitation, and temperature.
  • Follows sanitary food handler techniques.
  • Reports poor quality or unsafe food so it is not served.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience
