Job summary

Castle Healthcare in Alabama is seeking an Activity Assistant to support planning, development, and evaluation of resident programs across recreational, social, intellectual, and emotional activities.

You will observe resident participation, maintain accurate notes, and collaborate with other departments to create a warm, supportive environment while ensuring dignity and confidentiality in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition & enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing & evaluating the activity programs for the Activities Department and monitoring quality assurance.
• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement; report and chart progress.
• Develop and maintain rapport with other departments to ensure activities run smoothly and with a warm, positive atmosphere.
• Assist in preparing activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs and advise on equipment and supply needs.
• Follow the care plan in providing daily activities for residents and assist with crafts, projects, and errands as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information and treat residents with dignity at all times.
• Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote physical, social, and mental well-being.
• Assist in-room residents by visiting, writing letters, running errands, and helping with crafts and activities.
