Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania is seeking a Residency Program Director and Hematology/Oncology Pharmacist to lead pharmaceutical care at the top of license. You will oversee the residency program, mentor residents, and collaborate with medical staff to optimize therapy and outcomes.

This is a senior clinical leadership role with opportunities for academic appointment. Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy, a Doctoral degree in Pharmacology preferred, and a PA pharmacist

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required.
  • Licensed Pharmacist (Pennsylvania) - State of Pennsylvania required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in hematology and oncology, including medication order review, dosing, and monitoring for safety and efficacy.
  • Oversee the residency program, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and fostering a high-quality learning environment.
  • Mentor and guide pharmacy residents, students, and staff, promoting professional development and clinical excellence.
  • Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to optimize medication therapy and resolve drug-related issues.

  • Coordinate and supervise pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to departmental standards.
  • Provide oversight for staff performance management, recruitment, and competency development.
  • Deliver in-service education and drug information to healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and corporate standards across clinical and operational activities.
  • Develop and manage budgets, business plans, and performance metrics for pharmacy services.
  • Maintain and audit collaborative practice agreements and clinical procedures in assigned areas.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in patient care, operational efficiency, and staff engagement.

Job Summary:

The Residency Program Director and Hematology Oncology Pharmacist provides quality pharmaceutical care defined as being responsible for assuring the provision of safe, efficacious and cost-effective drug therapy for all patients. The pharmacist will utilize integrated and routine communication with all health care professionals and patients concerning medical care and quality of life with the emphasis placed on the monitoring and documentation of specific pharmacotherapy outcomes. Provides assistance and in-depth drug information to medical personnel; performs operational/clinical functions or projects as assigned.

Job Duties:

*As residency program director, the pharmacist is eligible for appointment within the Geisinger College of Health Sciences as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy and is also eligible for promotion within the College.
