The program goal will be to support and create a strong university-district-agency partnership between the Department of Teacher Education (DTE) at Northern New Mexico College, and school districts throughout New Mexico. The residency program will serve as the catalyst to address the needs of the recruitment, training, and retainment of quality teachers and teacher candidates in New Mexico communities that serve large numbers of Native American and English Learner students. This position reports to the Department Chair of Teacher Education. Position is a grant position and is subject to grant approval and criteria.**Duties & Responsibilities*** Create a year-long teacher residency program in partnership with school districts throughout New Mexico to train teacher candidates in high quality pedagogical knowledge and community-based sensitivity awareness;* Provide program participants with coaching support that includes extensive content knowledge to teach subjects and a deep understanding of human development that allows them to master the multi-dimensional nature of teaching;* Coordinate professional development opportunities for program participants that provide a strong understanding for the need of cultural sensitivity and to explore the construction of disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge;* Assist in the evaluation and analysis of program evaluations, and assist in writing the final program evaluation;* All other duties as assigned.**MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS**:* Master’s Degree in education.
