Job summary

Atmos Energy Corporation is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to develop and maintain reservoir simulation models for evaluating reservoir performance, forecasting deliverability, and supporting long-term storage planning.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Petroleum Engineering with Engineer-In-Training and several years of experience, plus expertise in simulation software and regulatory compliance. Travel within Texas and occasional extended hours may be required as deadlines dictate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering and Engineer-In-Training registration with a state board, plus 3–5 years of professional experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Engineer-In-Training registration, and four years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, calibrates, and maintains reservoir simulation models to evaluate performance and forecast deliverability.
  • Operates with latitude in complex reservoir engineering assignments for underground natural gas storage reservoirs.
  • Evaluates reservoir and well performance data to optimize storage capacity and deliverability.
  • Designs reservoir enhancements, well interventions, and performance programs to maximize reliability and value of storage assets.
  • Provides input on reservoir development strategies, capital projects, and engineering recommendations based on sound principles and economic evaluation.
  • Reviews analyses, reservoir studies, and simulations to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to standards.
  • Coordinates multidisciplinary engineering activities to support project execution.
  • Prepares technical reports, reserve evaluations, and studies for business planning and regulatory compliance.
  • Develops engineering approaches to resolve complex reservoir performance and storage optimization challenges.
  • Conducts risk assessments on underground storage assets, evaluating well barriers, caprock integrity, and subsurface pressure limits to mitigate hazards.
