Job summary

ChampionX in Sugar Land, Texas, is seeking a Reservoir Engineer to support CEOR projects through data collection, engineering analysis, and numerical simulation for R&D and customer-based work.

You will coordinate with multiple groups, manage projects, and present technical reports to diverse audiences. Candidates should have 6 years of IOR/EOR experience and strong reservoir simulation skills, including history matching and model construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 6 years of relevant work experience in IOR/EOR techniques.
  • Experience with IOR/EOR in academic or industry settings beneficial.
  • Understanding of multiphase flow through porous media and fluids property modelling.
  • Experience in reservoir management, waterflooding performance evaluation/optimization, well testing, interwell tracer data analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of reservoir simulation including history matching and prediction.
  • Proficient in Eclipse and CMG softwares.
  • Ability to develop conceptual models and implement new ideas.
  • Strong interaction with stakeholders including management and industry partners.
  • Self-driven with ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reservoir engineering support for CEOR projects, including screening, data collection, analysis, and numerical simulation.
  • Manage assigned projects and coordinate with internal and external customers.
  • Liaise with Technology, Marketing, Sales and other reservoir engineers.
  • Split time between technical projects and customer-facing meetings (min 25%).
  • Write and present technical reports and publications, internally and externally.
  • Perform advanced data analytics.

Job description

We are searching for a Reservoir Engineer for our Technology team located in Sugar Land, Texas. As a Reservoir Engineer , you will provide reservoir engineering support for assigned Chemically Enhanced Oil Recovery (CEOR) projects by coordinating activities with others within the team to collaboratively ensure targets are met. You will act as a liaison with internal and external customers and provide technical reports and presentations to diverse audiences. Through your work, you will perform and interpret relevant reservoir engineering analysis and draw appropriate conclusions.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide reservoir engineering support that includes initial screening, data collection, engineering analysis, numerical simulation/prediction in both lab and field scales for CEOR projects (both R&D and customer-based projects)

  • Manage assigned projects and monitor progress to ensure targets are met, while liaising with internal and external customers.

  • Coordinate activities with the other groups involved (Technology, Marketing, Sales and other reservoir engineers).

  • Split your time between technical support projects and customer interaction. It is expected that this position will spend minimum of 25% in customer-facing meetings.

  • Writing/presenting technical reports/publications (internally & externally)

  • Some advanced data analytics

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

  • 6 years of relevant work experience in IOR (Improved Oil Recovery) / EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) techniques

  • Prior IOR/EOR experience in academic or industry setting

  • Understating of multi-phase flow through porous media, fluids property modelling (phase behavior), routine and special core analysis

  • Experience in reservoir engineering including (not limited to) reservoir management, waterflooding performance evaluation/optimization, well testing, interwell tracer data analysis

  • Solid knowledge and experience in reservoir simulation including model construction, history matching, calibration and prediction

  • Proficient in Eclipse, CMG reservoir simulation software

  • Must be a creative thinker with the ability to build conceptual models to implement new ideas, processes and technologies

  • Proven ability to interact with a variety of contacts, both internal and external, including management and industry partners to identify and implement advanced reservoir engineering technologies.

  • Self-driven and ability to work under minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of relevant work experience or MS with 4 years of relevant work experience

  • Advanced data analytics experience

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

  • Detail-orientated with excellent time management skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a professional and positive attitude

  • Demonstrated ability to work and think independently

  • Project leadership/management experience

  • Open to new ideas and innovations

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data

Physical Demands:
  • Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing
