Job summary

The Ohio State University’s AquOTic Research Laboratory in the Occupational Therapy division seeks a Researcher to conduct complex scientific investigations and coordinate clinical research in aquatic therapies for pediatric populations. The role partners with the Principal Investigator to ensure study protocols, data quality, and safety while contributing to manuscript preparation and grant planning.

  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience required; 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years with Master's Degree.
  • Doctoral Degree with research coordination experience preferred.
  • Experience in aquatic occupational therapy and pediatric populations advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Principal Investigator (PI) to develop, manage and implement research projects.
  • Coordinates participant recruitment, scheduling, and data collection.
  • Ensures adherence to study protocols, intervention fidelity, participant safety, and data quality.
  • Trains and supports research staff, students, and intervention personnel in clinical and research procedures.
  • Assists with IRB submissions, regulatory documentation, and study compliance.
  • Analyzes & evaluates experimental data.
  • Develops and implements new or revised research methods.
  • Assists PI in research & development efforts of new research projects.
  • Works closely with PI to determine and develop goals of projects.
  • Develops and establishes criteria & research standards to meet goals of research projects.
  • Plans and writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in scientific journals.
  • Attends and presents research results at national and international scientific conferences and workshops.
  • Actively contributes to developing, writing, editing and critiquing research grant proposals.
  • Investigates potential sources of funding and makes recommendations to principal investigators.
  • Participates in developing and establishing working relationships with current & potential sponsors of research.
  • Oversees appropriate maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
  • Negotiates and oversees pool and community service contracts.
  • Participates in developing and implementing laboratory SOPs and Safety Manual.
  • Monitors, oversees & ensures compliance to local, state and federal laboratory health and safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
  • Provides training of research staff in executing new research methods.
  • Serves as a clinical research consultant in pediatric occupational therapy, aquatic intervention, water competency, and rehabilitation research.

Position Summary

Researcher to conduct complex scientific investigations in the AquOTic research laboratory in the Occupational Therapy division, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, College of Medicine functioning as a clinical expert in aquatic occupational therapy intervention delivery, pediatric clinical assessments, clinical research coordination.

Job Requirements

Master's Degree or equivalent experience required; 5 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience required with Master's Degree.

Preferred

Doctoral Degree with research coordination experience; comfort in water activities; Extensive experience in health science research capacity; experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity; extensive experience planning & developing projects; extensive knowledge and expertise in aquatic occupational therapy.
