Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Researcher Affairs Specialist within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. You will administer a portfolio of researcher appointments, handle onboarding, visa coordination, payroll transactions, and ensure compliance with university policies and employment laws.

In collaboration with university offices, you will support departments, researchers, and principal investigators, triaging issues and guiding stakeholders through appointment types and policy requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic, research, or higher education environment.
  • Experience supporting faculty, researchers, or academic personnel administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Researcher Appointment Administration: processes and manages all researcher appointment-related actions.
  • Maintains researcher personnel records and tracks appointment/end dates.
  • Onboarding and visa coordination; visa initiation as appropriate.
  • Compliance with university policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment laws.
  • Payroll and transaction processing; coordination with grant managers and departments.
  • Issue resolution and advisory support to faculty, researchers, and administrators.
  • Stakeholder support and relationship building across departments.
