Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological experiments including bacterial culture, isolation, and characterization of clinical Staphylococcus aureus isolates.
  • Conduct antimicrobial susceptibility testing, including broth microdilution and inoculum effect assays.
  • Assist with DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
  • Support studies evaluating β-lactamase activity and expression.
  • Maintain laboratory records and experimental databases.
  • Participate in data analysis, figure preparation, and presentation of research findings.
  • Assist with manuscripts, abstracts, and grant-related reports.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with graduate students, postdocs, and the PI.

The successful candidate will contribute to laboratory studies investigating bacterial resistance mechanisms, antimicrobial susceptibility, gene expression, and host-pathogen interactions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, microbiology, and translational research.**Key Responsibilities*** Perform microbiological experiments including bacterial culture, isolation, and characterization of clinical *Staphylococcus aureus* isolates.* Conduct antimicrobial susceptibility testing, including broth microdilution and inoculum effect assays.* Assist with molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.* Support studies evaluating β-lactamase activity and expression.* Maintain accurate laboratory records and experimental databases.* Participate in data analysis, figure preparation, and presentation of research findings.* Assist with preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and grant-related reports.* Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures.* Collaborate effectively with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and the primary investigator.**Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.* 3 years of prior laboratory experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or infectious diseases research.* Familiarity with aseptic techniques and bacterial culture methods.* Experience with qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and basic bioinformatics is desirable but not required.* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.## Additional Information:The pay range for this job profile is $58,700 - $77,200.
