Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Research Assistant to support department research through project execution, data handling, and routine experiments on-site.

The role involves designing experiments for sponsored projects, maintaining accurate records, and communicating summaries of results to the team. You will participate in data interpretation, assist with quality control of assays, manage lab supplies, and help maintain equipment and cell cultures.

Qualifications

  • Biology, chemistry, and data management knowledge.
  • Strong documentation and records management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret experimental data.

  • Carry out duties for ordering and maintaining supply of inventories.
  • Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research.
  • Prepare media and maintain cells by culturing in techniques.
  • Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principal Investigator.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management. Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis. Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree Minimum Required Experience: No experience required.

Physical Requirements

Work Environment Sensory Acuity Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
