D-Wave is launching a state-of-the-art facility in Boca Raton, Florida, and seeks a Research Technician to help establish lab operations and support testing of the next generation of quantum computing technology.
In this hands-on role you will work with dilution refrigerators, payload systems, and cryogenic equipment, gaining immersive experience while contributing to safe, reliable lab practices and increasing ownership of day-to-day operations.

We are seeking a Research Technician to be among the first members of ourLabOpsteam, helpingestablishlaboratory operations and support the testing of D-Wave's next generation of quantum computing technology.
In this hands-on role, you will support the operation of dilution refrigerators and payload systems used for quantum processor testing. You will play a key role in launching and stabilizing the new laboratory while helpingestablishsafe, reliable, and efficient operating practices.
Your journey begins with a fully supported training and knowledge-transfertemporaryassignment of up to180 daysat our headquarters in Burnaby, British Columbia, where you will gain immersive, hands-on experience with D-Wave's cutting-edgequantum systems, laboratory equipment, and operating procedures.This positionis located inBoca Raton, FL; where you will return after your temporary assignmentand work closely with theLabOpsTeam Lead to support day-to-day operations, troubleshoot issues, and take increasing ownership of laboratory readiness and execution.

Support dilution refrigerator cooldowns and warmups, including system preparation, payload installation and removal, line purges, valve operations, thermometry checks, and cooldown monitoring.
Assistwith resistance measurements,microwave systemstrace collection, and basic quality checks.
Accurately record cooldown data, payload information, system configurations, and state changes inLabOpsHub.
Perform first-pass troubleshooting andassistwith routine maintenance in coordination with the Team Lead and Lab Infrastructuremanagement.
Coordinate with Sample Prep & Packaging, Controls &LabOpsTools, and other partner teams to support payload readiness, data capture, and laboratory throughput.
HelpestablishFlorida lab operations by documenting workflows, improving procedures, and applying the practices learned during the Canadian assignment.
Follow approved procedures and safety requirements, take ownership of assigned tasks, and elevate technical or operational risks appropriately.
Provide cross-team operational support as needed during the Florida lab ramp-up.
2+years ofdemonstratedpractical skills and applied technical knowledge, including at least two years of hands-on technical experience.
Experience working with laboratory instrumentation, experimental hardware, or another technical operating environment.
Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and ability to follow detailed procedures consistently.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, respond to changing priorities, and work increasingly independently after training.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
Willingness to learn new systems and develop hands-on cryogenic operating skills.
A degree or technical diploma in engineering, physics, orrelatedfield is valued but notrequired. Experience with cryogenic or vacuum systems is an asset.
Willingness and ability to temporarilyrelocateto Burnaby, British Columbia, for a short-term international assignment for required onsite training assignment lasting up to 180 days.
Ability to obtain andmaintain authorization to work in Canada for the duration of the temporary assignment.
D-Wave will cover eligible costs associated with the required short-term international assignment and training period. Additionaldetails will be provided during the hiring process.
Ability to obtain andmaintain a valid passport and travel to customer and company sites across North America and Europe.
Ability to obtain andmaintain security clearance.
Initial onsite work in Burnaby, British Columbia, followed by permanent onsite work in Boca Raton, Florida.
Frequent hands-on work with cryogenic fluids, vacuum systems, instrumentation, and laboratory equipment.
Ability to stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Routine use of personal protective equipment and adherence to laboratory safety procedures.
Occasional irregular or after-hours work may be required during cooldowns and other time-sensitive operations.
