Job summary

CNDS invites a skilled researcher to contribute to human neuroimaging studies of depression, PTSD, and anxiety. You will design, implement, and program fMRI analysis pipelines, acquire and analyze data, and develop novel brain targets for TMS stimulation.

Lead data management across four sites, mentor staff, and integrate cloud-based analytics with scanner outputs. A Master of Science and 3–5 years of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science and 3–5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Holds an engineering degree or a related field.
  • Advanced programming skills in multiple languages.
  • Experience using AFNI, ANTs, FSL, Freesurfer, and FMRIPrep for fMRI analysis.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Strong statistical analysis, multivariate methods, and Bayesian imaging models.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with principal investigators and CNDS staff on research projects.
  • Design and program fMRI analysis pipelines and acquire data with advanced statistics.
  • Troubleshoot scripts and cloud-based data transfers in real time.

Job description

  • Work closely with the principal investigator, collaborating investigators, and CNDS staff on CNDS research
  • Conduct human neuroimaging research focused on depression, post-traumatic stress, and anxiety
  • Design, implement, and program functional MRI analysis pipelines using shell scripting
  • Acquire and analyze data using advanced statistical techniques
  • Develop new skills and analytic techniques across multiple research methodologies
  • Troubleshoot scripts and data analysis, including real-time data transferred to the cloud
  • Develop and acquire novel brain targets for TMS stimulation
  • Troubleshoot data harmonization across sites
  • Supervise maintenance of the CNDS website
  • Oversee data management and sharing for two large multi-center grants
  • Harmonize and analyze data across four sites and respond to NIMH data inquiries
  • Assist with programming cloud-based data analysis streams connecting scanner, cloud machine-learning decisions, and scanner output
  • Maintain the transducer and connections and analyze fMRI data for the LIFU intervention
  • Train, manage, and mentor MRI scanning coordinators and data-analysis staff
  • Conduct low-intensity ultrasound studies, including target development, sonication, and pre/post circuit-effect fMRI analysis
  • Implement new psychedelic projects
  • Conduct MRI scans as backup
  • Assume responsibility for new projects and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
  • Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Hold an engineering degree or a degree in a related field
  • Advanced programming skills
  • Experience utilizing AFNI, ANTs, FSL, Freesurfer, Connectome Workbench, and fMRIPrep for functional MRI analysis
  • Shell scripting, MATLAB, and Python
  • Advanced statistical analysis, including multivariate methods, data reduction techniques, structural equation modeling, survival analysis, and Bayesian hierarchical imaging models
  • Knowledge of graph neural networks and support vector machine classifiers
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, Python, and HTML
  • Background checks may be required after a conditional job offer
  • Ability to work with functional MRI, real-time cloud-based data analysis, brain target development, TMS, focused ultrasound, and data harmonization
