Job summary

Boston University’s Rafik B. Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science and Engineering seeks a Software Engineer in the SAIl lab to design, build and maintain data pipelines, custom software tools, and computational workflows for research projects.

You will collaborate with postdocs and researchers, containerize applications, optimize performance, and promote reproducible software practices with CI/CD and testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex mathematical models and scripts into clean, modular software packages.
• Develop and maintain data processing pipelines, interfaces, or visualization dashboards for lab datasets.
• Containerize applications to ensure identical environments across local, HPC clusters, or cloud platforms.
• Manage large-scale research datasets with secure storage and version control.
• Collaborate with lab researchers to automate workflows and optimize performance.
• Package and document software to open-source standards for reproducibility.
