Job summary

Longwood University’s Greenwood Library seeks an Research Services Artificial Intelligence Librarian to blend traditional librarianship with AI literacy and digital innovation. The role leads AI literacy initiatives, supports faculty and student research, and collaborates campus-wide to inform AI policies in higher education.

The librarian will teach information literacy workshops, provide research consultations, and stay current with emerging AI technologies to guide the university’s engagement

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.
• Experience with library research support and instruction.
• Knowledge of AI tools (e.g., language models, citation generators, AI-based research tools).
• Demonstrated knowledge of the ethical, legal, and social implications of AI.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technological concepts to non-expert audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a rapidly changing technological environment.

Key qualifications

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program
• Demonstrated experience with library research support and instruction
• Knowledge of AI tools (e.g., language models, citation generators, AI-based research tools)
• Demonstrated knowledge of the ethical, legal, and social implications of AI
