Job summary

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) seeks a Research Security Manager (Physical Security) to lead the development and implementation of security policies protecting sensitive research data and facilities in Atlanta, GA.

The role requires five+ years of relevant experience, including supervisory responsibilities, and expertise in ICD 705, NISPOM, TEMPEST, and related security standards to coordinate with DoD programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures.

Job Summary

The Manager of Research Security is tasked with developing and implementing security protocols to protect sensitive research data and facilities from potential threats. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of security measures and compliance standards to ensure the safety of personnel and the integrity of research activities. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Job Duty 1 - Develop and implement comprehensive security policies and procedures to protect sensitive research data and facilities from unauthorized access and threats.
  • Job Duty 2 - Collaborate with Information Technology and research teams to integrate security protocols into research processes and technologies.
  • Job Duty 3 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Job Duty 4 - Conduct regular security assessments and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Job Duty 5 - Monitor security incidents and breaches, conduct thorough investigations and coordinating response efforts to mitigate risks.
  • Job Duty 6 - Provide training and awareness programs for employees on security best practices and the importance of safeguarding research information.
  • Job Duty 7- Develop and maintain relationships with law enforcement and security agencies to enhance the organization's security posture and response capabilities.
  • Job Duty 8 - Prepare and present reports on security incidents, risks, and compliance to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Job Duty 9 - Evaluate and recommend security technologies and solutions to improve the organization's overall security infrastructure.
  • Job Duty 10 - Stay current with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to research security to ensure compliance and best practices.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Qualifications

Overnight travel required for project delivery;

Required Experience

Five or more years of relevant experience, including three or more years of supervisory experience.

  • Master's Degree in related discipline or equivalent.

  • Experience with managing, supporting and accreditation for SCIFs, SAPFs, or OSAs
  • Track record managing facility construction or renovation projects in classified environments
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ICD 705 Technical Specifications for SCIF construction and accreditation
  • Understanding of DoD Manual 5205.07 for Special Access Program Facilities
  • Working knowledge of NISPOM (32 CFR 117) requirements for classified facility management
  • Experience with TEMPEST requirements and technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM)
  • Expertise in acoustic protection standards for classified spaces
  • Proficiency with intrusion detection systems (IDS)
  • Experience with access control systems (ACS) design and implementation
  • Knowledge of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems and integration field
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software for reviewing facility drawings
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Completion of ICD 705 Technical Specifications training through accredited program, Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

Salary Job Grade R10

Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $109,562 - $185,165.

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.
