Job summary

Prior Labs GmbH is seeking a senior data scientist to build foundational data-science tools for tabular foundation models and to shape the benchmarks and datasets they rely on. The role blends frontier tool development with creating scalable, trustworthy data benchmarks driven by real-world problems.

You will publish research, align with customer needs, and contribute to an environment that values high-impact, hard problems over quick wins.

Qualifications

• Solving data-science problems across many domains with strong performance.
• Experience with gradient-boosted trees (e.g., XGBoost) beyond deep learning.
• Understanding dataset defects (leakage, label noise, distribution shift, etc.).
• Foundational work mindset, handling hard problems others avoid.
• Senior individual contributor in an ambiguous early-stage environment.

Responsibilities

• Invent and build frontier tools extending TabPFN and related capabilities.
• Set research directions by prioritizing model capabilities and benchmarks.
• Incorporate external research and customer needs to shape model directions.
• Publish frontier results advancing the field and methods.
• Build trustworthy benchmarks from real, high-impact data problems.
• Design an automated, agentic pipeline with human-in-the-loop for scale.
