Tokyo Electron is offering a Summer 2027 Internship in Austin, TX. Interns will work on meaningful projects, applying Lean thinking to drive improvements in semiconductor 3D integration.

Qualifications

  • PhD candidate in mechanical engineering, materials science or relevant field at the start of the position.
  • Experience with finite element packages (Abaqus, Ansys, COMSOL) preferred.
  • Proficient in Python or MATLAB and comfortable with ML concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Hands-on semiconductor manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Simulate mechanical and multi-physics processes in semiconductor 3D integration using FE software.
  • Design and optimize mechanical elements from modeling results.
  • Create advanced models to analyze simulation and experimental results.

Job Description Summer 2027 Internship Duration: Monday, May 17th- August 20th, 2027 Location: Austin, TX

What You Can Expect: Meaningful Project Work: Every Intern is assigned a project that delivers value to the business. Lean Thinking: Interns are expected to apply Lean principles and continuous improvement thinking throughout their project work; Lean training and resources will be provided. Our Goal is to provide interns with meaningful, hands‑on experiences that contribute to business objectives while supporting their professional development

Responsibilities
  • Simulate mechanical and multi-physics processes in semiconductor 3D integration technologies by utilizing commercial and custom finite element software packages
  • Design and optimize mechanical elements using modeling results
  • Create advanced models to analyze simulation and experiment results
Qualifications
  • Required: PhD candidate in mechanical engineering, materials science or relevant field at the start of the position
  • Experienced using finite element software, e.g. Abaqus, Ansys, COMSOL, etc.
  • Experienced in machine learning algorithms and programming software (e.g. Python, MATLAB)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Preferred: Hands‑on experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes
  • Familiarity with applied statistical theories
  • Strong knowledge in advanced mathematics
