Job summary

Google DeepMind is seeking a Research Scientist to advance AI research and deploy ideas across product lines. You will design experiments, prototype architectures, and drive research from concept to implementation, addressing real-world problems in machine learning and related domains.

You will contribute to publishing results and engaging with the global research community, collaborating with internal teams and partner institutions to push the boundaries of AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent practical experience in CS/ML or related field.
• Experience with Python and deep learning frameworks (JAX, Flax, Gemma).
• Experience building multimodal AI models and systems.
• Experience in research and development including experimental design, implementation, and analysis.
• Strong publication record in ML conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML).

Responsibilities

• Generate ideas and stay current with state-of-the-art in the field.
• Design, implement, and evaluate ideas and tools for sociotechnical AI systems.
• Report and present research findings clearly, internally and externally.
• Collaborate across teams to meet research goals and contribute individually.
• Own substantial technical projects from ideation to evaluation.
