Job summary

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a laboratory researcher to manage, oversee, and perform experiments (80%), including planning and executing immunohistochemistry (IHC) and analyzing results.

You will handle routine lab maintenance, mentor undergraduates, and coordinate materials; emphasis on accuracy, organization, and problem solving. Required BA/BS with years of relevant experience; pay range $54,000–$64,000 per year.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree plus at least four years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least eight years.
  • Cell culture experience with immortalized cell lines, transfection, protein/antibody staining, cell separation, and virus-related work.
  • Molecular work including cloning, transformation, DNA purification, digestion verification, PCR, and DNA extraction.
  • Computer skills in R Studio, Microsoft Office, FileMaker Pro, bioinformatics tools, and Qualtrics.
  • Personal traits: intensely curious, highly attentive to detail, driven through failure, love for organization.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute experiments (e.g., immunohistochemistry).
  • Perform IHC procedures and analyze results.
  • Clean and maintain the research bench and common areas.
  • Train undergraduates and supervise routine experiments.
  • Order reagents and manage storage and labeling.
