Position Details

Salary Grade 25: $92,055 - $111,115

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated candidate for a full-time Research Scientist III position within the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). This role focuses on addressing the overdose crisis by developing person-centered, evidence-based, equitable, and harm reduction approaches. The position involves collaborating with NYU on a NIH-funded project to transform data architecture and reporting systems across OASAS.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a research team within OASAS and collaborate with NYU researchers.
  • Define research priorities and key performance indicators in collaboration with PRIME leadership.
  • Apply advanced research methods to identify gaps in performance measures and data collection.
  • Develop solutions to improve data collection for research and evaluation.
  • Oversee preparation of research documentation, including protocols and reports.
  • Coordinate with cross-agency staff and stakeholders on data and research initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science with at least 4 years of research or data management experience and 1 year supervisory experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in a relevant social science with equivalent experience, OR
  • Ph.D. in a relevant social science with equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of full-time experience managing and analyzing quantitative data.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting comprehensive program evaluations.
  • Proficiency in SAS, R, or SQL.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and in substance use epidemiology.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Motivation for continuous learning in data analysis.
