Job description

Position

Position located in Omaha, Nebraska. Develops, implements, and maintains an independent research program with national impact, including establishing and maintaining appropriate laboratories and computational infrastructure to support research activities. Engages in interdisciplinary and collaborative research projects with research faculty and clinical investigators.


Responsibilities

Specific duties include:



  • Designs, develops, and executes research protocols involving biomedical, clinical, and sensor-based datasets, utilizing advanced analytical methods including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling;

  • Works directly in the laboratory to implement the research program, collects data, develops new procedures, and ensures successful execution of research objectives;

  • Initiates and participates in securing independent external funding from federal agencies (e.g., NIH) and other funding bodies;

  • prepares and contributes technical sections to grant proposals submitted by the research team;

  • Participates in institutional training and educational programs by delivering presentations, mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and trainees, and contributing to instructional activities;

  • Publishes research results in peer-reviewed journals and presents findings at national and international scientific meetings;

  • Recruits and supervises research assistants or other staff supported by non-BTNRH funds to facilitate research progress;

  • Collaborate with other members of the research faculty on interdisciplinary research problems of mutual interest;

  • Contributes to the national scientific community through peer review of manuscripts and grant proposals, participation in professional committees, and involvement in organizing scientific conferences and workshops.


Requirements


  • Degree: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical informatics, information science, engineering, computer science, or a closely related discipline.

  • License/Certifications: Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification.

  • Demonstrated work in one or more major laboratories where research was performed relevant to the current research program; Record of publications in peer reviewed journals as first author; and Record of presentations at national/international meetings or conferences as first presenter.
