Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a PhD-level researcher to advance vascular medical device research. The role includes supervising studies, designing experiments, and coordinating multi-site projects. Ideal candidates hold a PhD in a scientific field with 1+ year post-PhD experience, plus familiarity with preclinical vascular models and endovascular concepts. Minnesota location preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD in a scientific field required.
• At least 1 year post-PhD experience in engineering or scientific field preferred.
• Industry experience in vascular based medical device manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
• Familiarity with large preclinical animal models of vascular device testing.
• Strong background in vascular anatomy and endovascular management.
• Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.

Job description

• Supervise and independently perform studies advancing the principal investigator's research projects


• Design and execute complex research procedures


• Develop and perform routine and complex research protocols


• Oversee the design and manufacturing of vascular medical devices


• Coordinate research study activities; lead and manage projects


• Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring quality activities


• Collaborate with principal investigators on study design and statistical analyses


• Coordinate regional and national collaborators to facilitate project execution


• Perform and develop computational and database methods; may serve as primary statistician


• Develop new methodologies for laboratory procedures


• Maintain supplies, negotiate with vendors, and track purchase orders


• Participate in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff


• Evaluate and interpret data validity and evaluate laboratory procedures


• Oversee laboratory personnel, including training, development, and daily work direction when applicable


• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• PhD in a scientific field


• Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis


• At least 1 year post PhD experience in an engineering or scientific field, industry or academic sector (preferred)


• Industry experience in vascular based medical device manufacturing (preferred)


• Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management


• High familiarity with large preclinical animal models of vascular device testing


• Strong background in bioabsorbable materials


• In depth vascular anatomy knowledge, knowledge of vascular disease and endovascular interventional management


• Knowledge of vascular medical device manufacturing and testing, alongside knowledge of appropriate international standards


• Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills


• Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication


• May occasionally require ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects
