Job summary

ByteDance's Technology team in Seattle is seeking PhD-level researchers to design and prototype scalable distributed systems and AI-enabled databases. You will survey literature, propose new architectures, and push systems into production while collaborating with mentors and lab members.

Candidates should have completed or near completion of a PhD in CS, strong coding skills in C/C++, Go, Java or Python, and a track record of publishing in top venues.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Individuals who are completing or have recently completed a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Understand how distributed systems work, such as distributed storage and database systems.
• Great programming skill in one or more of the following programming languages: C/C++, Go, Java or Python

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong past research experience in infrastructure and database system areas
• Research experience with AI and LLM
• Strong publication records
