ByteDance’s Vision-Applied Research team is seeking a Research Scientist to advance computer vision and generative AI with real-world impact across ByteDance products. You will conduct cutting-edge research, develop novel algorithms, and help bring AI-powered creative tools to life for millions of users.

The role requires 2+ years in CV-related research, strong C/C++ and Python skills, and a track record in generative models or multimodal understanding.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of research and practical experience in computer vision topics including generative models, diffusion models, GANs, image/video synthesis/manipulation/editing, image/video understanding, multimodality, vision and language, generative humans, neural motion synthesis, and human modeling (2D/3D pose estimation, hand pose estimation, human shape estimation), facial analysis.
• Strong coding skills in C/C++ and Python.

Responsibilities

The Vision-Applied Research team focuses on applied research in Generative AI and CV/Multimodal Understanding, and delivering intelligent solutions to ByteDance products, enabling users to make and share creative content in a much easier way. The team has research groups dedicated to generative models for content creation, image generation, video synthesis, intelligent image/video editing, and virtual humans.

• Conduct cutting-edge research and development in computer vision, generative AI and other related fields.
• Transfer advanced technologies to ByteDance products.
• Explore new products with artificial intelligence technology at its core.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of research and practical experience in one or more areas of computer vision: Generative models, diffusion models, GAN, Image and video synthesis/manipulation/editing, Image and video understanding, Multi-modality, vision and language, Generative human, neural motion synthesis, Human modeling (2D and 3D pose estimation, hand pose estimation, human shape estimation), Facial analysis.
• Highly competent in algorithms and programming; Strong coding skills in C/C++ and Python.

Preferred Qualifications

• Candidates with publications in venues such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, SIGGRAPH, & NeurIPS.

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $218400 - $387600 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
